Rumtek Dharma Chakra Center is 24kms from Gangtok, is the seat of the kagyud order and of the four major Tibetan sects. The institute has some of the world’s most unique religious scriptures.

Tsomgo Lake 38kms .from Gangtok this serene lake is situated at an altitude of 3780 meters and remains frozen during winter.

Nathula Pass is 57kms. From gangtok at an altitude of 14450ft, bordering between India and China. Nathula is open for Indian nationals on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Directorate of Handicraft & handlooms is an institute of traditional art and craft, storehouse of hand woven woolen carpets, shawls, and choktse etc.Time 9.30 to 1500 hours.

Enchey Monastery about two centuries old is 3kms.from Gangtok. Every year Chaam or religious masked dance is performed during the month of December/January.

Burtuk water falls is 20 minutes drive from Gangtok.

Flower exhibition is organised round the year at the White House complex. Orchids can be seen in the spring season.

Ropeway about 1kms .long takes seven minutes .one can enjoy panoramic view from it.

Do-Drul chorten built in 1945 by the venerable Trullshi Rimpoche head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism.

Namgyal Institute of Tibetology is an institute for study of Buddhist philosophy and religion with a treasure of rare Lepcha, Tibetan and Sanskrit manuscripts, statues and rare thankas.

Hur Hury Dara near the Sikkim legislative assembly is nice place to have a good walk.

Pal Zurmang Kagyud Monastery is about 20kms from Gangtok. A place worth visiting for its religious and exquisite architecture and serene atmosphere.

Tashi View Point is 8kms from Gangtok. From this point a breath taking view of Mount Khangchenzonga can be seen.

Himalayan Zoological Park is 8kms from Gangtok, also known as bulbuley .Red panda .Red Panda, barking deer, bears, spotted deers etc can be seen.

Hanuman Tok about 10kms Gangtok is a temple of Lord Hanuman. The view of the mountain from this place is magnificent.

Ganesh Tok is a temple of Lord Ganesh. A bird’s eye view of Gangtok can be seen from here.

PEMAYANGTSE MONASTERY is one of the premier monasteries of the state. Established by Lhatsum to have performed the consecration ceremony of the first Choygal (monarch) of Sikkim. The monastery located in the hill top at an altitude of 6840ft, commands a magnificient view of the Himalayan range.

RABDENTSE RUINS the second capital of the erstwhile Kingdom of Sikkim now lies hidden as ruins at a walking distance from the Pemayangtse Monastery.

KHECHOPARLI LAKE is one of the most sacred lake of the state. It lies hidden under thick forest cover.

YOKSAM was the first capital of the erstwhile King of Sikkim .who was consecrated here in 1641 A.D. by three learned lamas. The trek to Zongri and the base camp of the famous Mt.Khangchendzonga begins here.

TASHIDING MONASTERY built in the 18th century A.D. Guru Padmasambhava blessed this place in the 8th century. It is also famous for the holy Chorten known as ‘saviors by mere sight’.

SAMDRUPTSE which means the ‘Wish fulfilling hill” is 72 kms, from Gangtok. A 135ft high unique statue of Padmasambhava which is supposed to be the highest in the world is installed here.

TEMI TEA GARDEN is the only tea garden of the3 stat producing very high quality of tea. It provides a magnificient view.

KABI LUNGCHOK is 17kms, from Gangtok, a historical treaty of blood brotherhood between the Lepcha chief Te Khung Tek and the Bhutia Chief Khey Bumsa was signed ritually here.

PHENSANG MONASTERY was first built in 1721, as this was gutted in the fire it was again built in 1948. The annual festival of Chaam is performed here.

PHODONG MONASTERY is one of the major monasteries of Sikkim located 38 kms.from Gangtok.

YUMTHANG at an altitude of 11800 ft is a paradise for nature lovers. The valley is the home of varieties of Rhododendrons. It also has a hot spring.
